Ford Fiesta Mk5 (1999-2001)
Hugely successful and much loved, the Ford Fiesta is available with a choice of 1.8 D or 1.8 TDdi. The Fiesta turbo diesel offers improved fuel efficiency and performance, with manufacturers figures stating 53.3mpg; expect anywhere up to 50mpg for normal driving.
Used diesel Fiestas offer a good level of comfort with excellent handling and sharp responsive steering, definitely one of the most enjoyable to drive in its class. Reliability is superb, well engineered with solid build and construction from Ford.
Diesel Engine Options
Available in both 3 and 5 door models, fitted with power steering and many optional extras you perhaps wouldnt expect in such a compact car. Fiesta Ghia models offer the most kit but also are more sought after and harder to find.
Ford Fiesta Mk6 (2002>)
This already successful model was revised by Ford in 2002, with the introduction of two new turbo diesel engines for the range. A punchy efficiency 1.4 TDCi and an even more powerful 1.6 TD or TDCi Zetec , both providing great fuel economy and performance, the TDCi incorporating common rail diesel technology. Official figures from Ford state an incredible 65.7mpg for the 1.4 TDCI Fiesta, perfect for motorway driving and to ease increasing fuel costs.
Diesel Engine Options
