Pumpe-Duse, PD, are unit injection engines, developed by Volkswagen to maximise performance and fuel economy in diesel engines. Replacing common rail technology, TDi PD engines feature four individual fuel pumps, one for each injector, allowing high pressure fuel injection which creates a more efficient ignition of fuel. TDi PD engines create more power and are more fuel efficient as a direct result of this improved engine technology.

It is important when considering a used Golf Plus diesel that Volkswagen are especially proud of their safety record. Six airbags, stability control and anti-lock braking systems as standard ensure safety levels pretty much on a par with the Golf MKV.
From a drivers perspective, a turbo diesel powered Golf Plus provides virtually as much enjoyment as driving the standard Golf Mk5. The chassis handles equally well, with limited body roll and almost paralleled ability during tight cornering and around town.
