Local diesel specialist Nu-Car has joined forces with cancer charity Tenovus to increase awareness of male cancers and help raise funds to fight against the disease.
A brand new website was launched this week for the car dealer and coincided with the launch of Tenovus’ ‘Check Your Tackle’ campaign, Director of Nu-Car Julian Cole commented, “The association is great for us, the motor trade has always been a male dominated environment both to work and shop in so it made sense for us to join forces with this particular charity and campaign”.
The new website is the result of many hours of huge financial investment and fastidious research into what car buyers want from a car retail website. The result is a wealth of information on diesel cars, car finance, warranties, and the car -buying process. It removes any mystery about buying a car and arms buyers with all the facts, figures and information they need before they even set foot in the dealership. Customers can book a test drive online in the vehicle of their choice, and for each test drive that’s taken Nu-Car will donate £5.
This year, over 134,000 men will develop cancer and 80,000 of these will die. Awareness of male cancers is not nearly so high as awareness of cancers associated with women; testicular cancer particularly is often regarded as taboo especially in young men. For example, not many people are aware that testicular cancer mainly affect men in the 15 to 45 age range, but if detected early, 95 per cent of cases are cured.
The money raised by Tenovus and Nu-Car for ‘Check Your Tackle’ will help raise awareness of the disease and promote higher self-awareness in young men that will go some way to increasing the survival rate.
